Seniors & Student Leaders Honored at Hillel, New Board Installed

At a special Shabbat dinner on April 22, Hillel honored graduating seniors, student leaders and departing Hillel professionals. More than 100 students attended this special night of celebration.

The outgoing board, led by co-presidents Graeme Ossey and Dorothy Abrams, was recognized for their dedication and service to the Jewish community of Emory.

The new Hillel board was installed with Alexis Berkow at the helm as the new student president of Hillel at Emory. Alexis will also be appointed to the board of Hillels of Georgia. Alexis said that her vision for Hillel is to "provide a warm, welcoming home for all Jewish students on campus, through a wide variety and depth of religious and social programming."

The new student board of Hillel at Emory 2011-12:

  • President: Alexis Berkow
  • Vice President: Evan Rapkin
  • VP Programming: Ross Hoddesson
  • VP Program Development: Josh Gerson
  • VP Engagement: Jordan Angel
  • VP Finance: Charlie Punia
  • VP Religious Life: Shana Kronish
  • VP Education: Erica Morris
  • VP Communications: Gabi Wolozin
  • VP Israel Awareness: Julia Saper
  • VP Freshman Engagement: Erika Rief
  • (orientation) & Michael Goldberg (2nd semester)
  • Jewish Greek Council Chair: Lindsay Jacobs

Students also bid a fond farewell to two outstanding Hillel professionals, Mimi Hall and Daniel Reiser, who have both contributed greatly to the growth and development of Hillel and Jewish life at Emory over the past three years. They will be advancing in their careers - Daniel is going to rabbinical school and Mimi to graduate school in business - and they will be missed terribly. They will go on to do more wonderful things to benefit the Jewish people and the world, and we wish them the best.
