We are very excited to present our new website. While some sections are still under development, we wanted to bring the online face of Hillel at Emory into the 21st century.
We hope you enjoy browsing the site and appreciate some of the new features. Your feedback is welcome and encouraged. Please let us know what you think by leaving a comment below. We look forward to hearing from you.
The following is an email we received from a recent Emory alum, Josh Langer, who was a member of the Hillel student board and of Kol Hanesher, Emory's Jewish a capella group. Josh now works for BBYO and is working on his MBA in nonprofit management and a Masters in Jewish Education. We wish Josh and Esther, who met at Hillel, mazal tov on their recent wedding. (Note: If you have your own story, we'd love to hear from you. Please leave a comment below, and we'll be in touch.)
We are excited to announce that Hillel at Emory has installed a new student board for the upcoming academic year. It is an extremely talented, energetic and diverse group. They were all officially installed at the Senior and Leadership Appreciation (SLAP) Shabbat dinner on Friday - a lively celebration of all student leaders this year and graduating seniors for their service to the community.
An anti-Jewish and anti-Gay group, the Westboro Baptist Church (WBC), plans to stage a demonstration outside the Marcus Hillel Center at Emory in early May to bring their message of hate to our community. While staging a counter-demonstration with our many friends and allies on campus may very well be a powerful message of unity, after consulting with our student and campus leadership, we have decided such an action would bring WBC more attention and credibility than they deserve.
