Welcome Back BBQ With Good Friends and Goodfriend's

Written by Ali Greenwald, Posted in Student Life

On Monday, August 30, Hillel held its annual Welcome Back BBQ at Bama. With its prime location right in the center of campus next to the DUC, this event is always a popular way to get back into the swing of Hillel. This year was different, however, because Goodfriend’s catering services did the cooking. Instead of students grilling, Goodfriend’s turned our ordinary kosher BBQ upside-down.

The turn-out was a great sign for the Goodfriend Grill’s success in the new Marcus Hillel Center, which is sure to be a great kosher resource for students on campus and people in the community.

Enoch Goodfriend, the owner, grilled plump hamburgers, huge hotdogs, delicious pulled BBQ chicken sandwiches and yummy veggie burgers. The quality of the food and awesome entertainment by Emory’s own band, The Shaddowboxers, made the BBQ at Bama a huge success.

More than 200 students attended the event, and lots of people signed up for the remaining Hillel freshmen orientation events, not wanting to miss the Labor Day White Water Rafting trip and Braves Game. People were hanging out on the lawn outside the DUC, met new people, and enjoyed the relaxing and amiable atmosphere. The excitement in the air was tangible, as it was clear from the crowd that everyone is looking forward to an incredible year to come with Hillel.
